After you have had the car detailed or you have done it yourself, the next step in the car selling process is to have your local mechanic take a look at it.  This means that the oil needs to be changed as well as all of the fluids that are under the hood, including the radiator and transmission.  You also want to have them change the brakes and tires if need be.

One thing that is a huge turn off for any potential buyers is the lights on the dashboard.  Check engine lights are typically bad, so you want to make sure that there are absolutely no lights on your gauges that might impede a potential sale.

Finally, you want to place the car itself, with a phone number that people can reach you in a very, very high traffic area.  After all, you want to ensure that the car is going to be seen so people can call you about it.
