defensive 1As we have seen and said several times, having a good driving record is a huge part of being able to get affordable car insurance. Driving well is another important factor. So, throughout the next couple of posts, we are going to take a look at how you can drive defensively and be completely safe.

First of all, you have got to remember to buckle up your seat belts, no matter what. Not only do you risk endangering yourself and paying enormous fines, but it is just a good habit to have. After all, wearing seat belts can prevent up to half of the injuries and deaths which occur in car accidents.

You also need to make sure you are completely awake and totally alert when you are driving. A large percentage of collisions occur because either one or even both drivers were not alert or paying close attention. Distraction can be dangerous; in the long run it can ruin your driving history.
