First and foremost, you do not want to buy a big and flashy car.  That will only make you pay a higher premium, so make sure that you buy a car that is just right for you and not go by the looks of it.  Even if you might be tempted because of the lower prices, you will definitely have a hard time keeping your car insurance low if you go with a flashy car.

Next, make sure that you keep your driving record clean.  Having little or no traffic violations at all actually makes you a very safe driver and therefore you will be able to get more discounts!
