How to be Safe While Traveling Abroad

No Comments Written by Heather on September 2, 2009 in Car Insurance.

abroadPeople visit other countries and other continents. That is a fact. People go abroad, in other words — and it is a safe bet that if you go abroad, whether it is to the United States, England, or Japan, you will not be relying solely on public transportation. At some time or another, you will likely have to drive somewhere. But what about insurance?

A car accident is universal; they can occur anywhere, and you need to be protected. You do not want to be uninsured if you are driving abroad.

A lot of big name auto insurance companies do offer coverage for when you are driving in another country. However, your personal policy may not cover that, so you will have to specifically ask your company. You also need to make special plans if you will be driving a car that does not belong to you.l

It is best to get additional, appropriate car insurance when you are driving abroad, even if, say, the rental company you choose offers it.
