defensive 2Thinking ahead is always a good move for appropriate forms of defensive driving. It is impossible to know what the other people on the road are doing, what they are thinking, or what they will be doing — but you can anticipate those things as long as you are vigilant.

It is important to keep your eyes peeled for any wrong moves; you have got to be ready to react to any mistakes.

Paying close attention to red or yellow lights, stop signs, yield signs, and so on, can be extremely helpful as well. Even when you have got the right of way, plan on stopping, or at least pausing, at all stop signs — just in case another driver decides to disobey the rules of the road.

First of all, you have got to remember to buckle up your seat belts, no matter what. Not only do you risk endangering yourself and paying enormous fines, but it is just a good habit to have. After all, wearing seat belts can prevent up to half of the injuries and deaths which occur in car accidents.

You also need to make sure you are completely awake and totally alert when you are driving. A large percentage of collisions occur because either one or even both drivers were not alert or paying close attention. Distraction can be dangerous; in the long run it can ruin your driving history.

Now that we have talked about car rental insurance as a whole – let’s go ahead and break it down to the different types of car rental insurance.  Basically, the first type is going to be the one that protects the owner of the car – in this case it would obviously be the car rental company.  The reason for this car insurance is that if you happen to get in a car crash.

The second type of car rental insurance is going to be the one that protects you as an individual.  Say you get in a car crash that you are not at fault for – theft or vandalism included.  This is a car insurance that you need to have – just in case the car is broken into while in your possession is all.  Usually – nowadays require you to have both types of insurance.

Another option for you – you might already be covered via your current car insurance company.  That is something that you need to check on before you purchase both car rental insurance policies.
